In a statement, the Houthis claimed to have successfully attacked the American Arleigh Burke-class guided missile destroyer USS Mason in the Red Sea, however, there is no evidence to support this.
“The naval forces of the Yemeni Armed Forces carried out a military operation targeting the American destroyer “Maysun” in the Red Sea with a number of appropriate naval missiles, and the hit was accurate,” the statement claimed.
Likewise, the Houthis also claimed to have attacked the Liberian-flagged bulk carrier Destiny, however, there were no reports from the UKMTO of such an incident at this time.
The Houthis have previously claimed responsibility for attacks that did not occur.
