At approximately 0430 EST, initial reports indicated that Singapore Airlines Flight SQ321 from London, UK to Singapore had to divert to Bangkok, Thailand after transmitting a 7700-code denoting an in-flight emergency.

By 0530 EST, eyewitnesses and local media reported that at least one passenger had been killed after the Boeing 777 experienced extreme turbulence. The aircraft is currently diverted to Suvarnabhumi Airport in Bang Phil District, Samut Prakan, Thailand. Rescue personnel and emergency services are on standby at the airport.
