British Authorities Discontinue Case Against Individual Charged With Spying for Hong Kong

On May 24th, a prosecutor from the U.K.’s Crown Prosecution Service notified the court that the case against Matthew Trickett would be “formally discontinued.”

Thames Valley Police also said that after an autopsy by the Home Office, they will not treat his death as suspicious on May 22nd.

On May 19th, Thames Valley Police found Trickett’s body in a park in the town of Maidenhead.

The judge adjourned Trickett’s codefendents, Chi (Peter) Leung Wai and Chung Biu Yuen, until October 25th and fixed a five-week trial to begin on February 10, 2025 in London.
