At least nine Hindu pilgrims are dead, including a child, and another 33 were left wounded after unknown gunman opened fire on a bus heading to the Shiv Khori temple in the disputed Jammu and Kashmir region, causing it to careen off a road and into a ravine.
Authorities have not identified potential suspects and so far no group has claimed responsibility. Numerous jihadist, separatist, and anti-Indian militant groups operate out of the region and violence against Hindu religious-minorities is common.
