LockBit 3.0 Targets U.S. Federal Reserve

On June 25th, 2024, LockBit 3.0, which the U.S. Department of Justice claimed to have shuttered in May, posted a cryptic message referencing the U.S. Federal Reserve.

The suspense built over the last twenty four hours as the admin accounts on the Lockbit 3.0 portal claimed to have exfiltrated 33TB of data from the U.S. Federal Reserve and threatened to release the data if a $50,000 random was not paid, noticeably lower than past exploitations of private companies.

That deadline came and went and LockBit 3.0 published the data. However, users on the portal have pointed out that much of the data released relates to Evolve Bank and Trust, which was recently penalized by the Federal Reserve.

Users are still combing through the massive amounts of published data.

This is developing.
