Iran and Israel Trade Threats of Military Action Over Lebanon

As tensions continue to mount between Israel and Hezbollah, Iran’s United Nation’s Mission warned that “an obliterating war will ensue” if Israel decides to launch an offensive over the border into Lebanon.

The Mission added that “All options, including the full involvement of all Resistance Fronts, are on the table,” referencing Iran-backed proxy forces, such as the Houthis in Yemen and Shia militia forces in Iraq and Syria.

In response, Israeli Minister of Foreign Affairs Israel Katz posted to X that “Iran threatens today to destroy Israel if Israel fully responds to Hezbollah attacks from Lebanon.”

“My response to Iran is clear,” he said, “If Hezbollah does not cease its fire and withdraw from southern Lebanon, we will act against it with full force until security is restored and residents can return to their homes.”

“A regime that threatens destruction deserves to be destroyed,” Katz added.
