#China summoned #Japan‘s ambassador in #Beijing for an “emergency meeting” after former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe said that both the #UnitedStates and #Japan could come to #Taiwan’s aid if China attacked, a move he said “would be a path leading to economic suicide.” #China‘s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Wang Wenbin later called Abe’s statement “utter nonsense.” Wang also stated that “No one should underestimate the strong resolve, determination and capability of the Chinese people to safeguard their national sovereignty and territorial integrity” and those who do “will have their heads broken and bloodied,” which was taken directly from a speech given earlier this year by President Xi Jinping. #AtlasNewsUpdateJapan
