Syrian Refugee Stabbed Wife in Grocery Store in Numedal, Norway

Emergency services responded to a reported stabbing at a Joker Egedahl, in Numedal Norway this morning. When the local fire brigade arrived they found one woman critically wounded with stab wounds  and subdued the knife wielding man.

Initially reported as a mass violence event, local authorities quickly rebutted the report and told press that a “family incident” turned violent.

“Two people have been flown to Ullevål hospital by air ambulance. One of these is critically injured. The other person must be slightly injured. One of the injured is the perpetrator. We can confirm that there is a family relationship between the perpetrator and the one stabbed” says police inspector Odd Skei Kostveit in a press release.

Apparently the Norwegian courts had issued a restraining order against the man on the wife’s behest in December, after several violent incident between the two. It is not clear the circumstances of the argument, but the woman is still alive. The perpetrator also has been treated for minor injuries during the struggle with the Fire Brigade.
