Aziz Wafa, Former Afghan Special Forces Commander, Killed in Clashes With Taliban in Andarab

Up to 20 Taliban militants have been killed near Rukha in the Andarab region of Baghlan Province, Afghanistan. The battle commenced 7 hours ago and reportedly has ended in Taliban defeat. In that firefight, Aziz Wafa, who was at one time, the senior enlisted man of the nearly 15,000 personnel of the ANA Special Operations Command. Four months ago he joined the Afghan National Resistance Front with several dozen men under his previous command before the 2021 fall to the Taliban.

Local media reported that Taliban fighters attacked the Hesarak Base, occupied by ANRF fighters. The Taliban advance was apparently beaten back, resulting in the loss of 20 Taliban fighters , Wafa , and an unspecified number of ANRF fighters.

Taliban officials have not confirmed the engagement, but ANRF forces released this video reportedly showing their forces firing on Taliban fighters.
