Ukraine’s Defense Minister Oleksii Reznikov announced only yesterday that U.S. supplied M142 High Mobility Artillery Rocket System (HIMARS) arrived in Ukraine, the first tranche valued at about 700 M USD, announced on June 1st by the U.S. Department of Defense. This package included 4 HIMARS systems as well as five counter-artillery radar systems; two air-surveillance radars; 1,000 Javelins and 50 command launch units; 6,000 anti-armor weapons; 15,000 155-mm artillery rounds; four Mi-17 helicopters; 15 tactical vehicles; and additional spare parts and equipment. The United States announced yesterday as well that they will send an additional 4 HIMARS to Ukraine.
“HIMARS have arrived to Ukraine. Thank you to my colleague and friend @SecDef Lloyd J. Austin III for these powerful tools! Summer will be hot for russian occupiers. And the last one for some of them,” tweeted Reznikov Thursday.
Now video has emerged of HIMARS being used against Russian targets in Ukraine.
While this video is not geo-located, it would make sense Ukrainian officials would rush these long range precision strike systems to either the East near the Lysychansk pocket or South to the Ukrainian operation to retake the city of Kherson.
