Date:

At approximately 1050 EST, an explosion ripped through the residential neighborhood in Kotal-e Khair khanah area of Kabul, where worshippers were gathered at the Abu Bakr al-Sadiq Mosque. The worshippers were gathering with Imam Amir Muhammad Saifi when the blast partially destroyed the interior of the building where approximately 200 people had congregated. Saifi was among those killed in the blast.

A Taliban Kabul Security Command spokesperson confirmed the bombing to foreign press and said that 27 victims had been received at the local hospital which was quickly overwhelmed. While there has not been confirmation of responsibility for the attack, ISIS has carried out more than a dozen high profile bombings in Kabul since the Taliban took power last year. Not to mention the nearly 2 dozen bombings throughout the country in cities such as Mazari-i-Sharif.
