Armenia and Azerbaijan Clash Ends, Casualty Counts Released

The Armenian MoD has stated that the front-line between them and Azerbaijan has stabilized, and combat has ended. Both sides have released claimed casualty counts in a statement. Armenia claims to have suffered 4 soldiers killed, with an additional 6 wounded, meanwhile Azerbaijan claims to have suffered 3 killed, with no word on wounded.

Additionally, Azeri media has claimed Armenia used Iranian-made drones in the clashes, which Armenia has denied, stating they are not in possession of any Iranian drones.

Each nations statement may be read below.

Azerbaijan:

On April 11, at about 16:20, the Armenian armed forces units from the positions in the direction of the Digh settlement of the Gorus region using various caliber weapons subjected to fire the Azerbaijan Army’s opposing positions stationed in the direction of the Lachin region.
Then, the opposing side continued firing Azerbaijan Army’s positions using mortars and large caliber weapons.
As a result of the vigilance of the servicemen, the provocation of the Armenian side was resolutely prevented, and the firing positions were suppressed.
During the retaliatory measures taken by the Azerbaijan Army, the Armenian armed forces units suffered significant losses.
Currently, the situation in this direction is relatively calm. The Azerbaijan Army  Units completely control the operational situation.
Azerbaijan Army’s servicemen Zalov Vidadi Nizami, Hasanov Elshad Gabil and Taghiyev Sabuhi Gunduz became Shehids (Martyrs) during the suppression of the Armenian provocation.
The leadership of the Ministry of Defense expresses its deepest condolences to the families of Shehids (Martyrs).

Armenia: 

As of 7:00 p.m., the intensity of the firefight has significantly weakened.

Rumors regarding shelling in the direction of Vardenis at this moment do not correspond to reality. The mentioned direction is relatively stable. Azerbaijani media has also spread a disinformation claiming that Armenian side used Iranian drones. There are no Iranian drones in the arsenal of the RA Armed Forces.

We urge not to spread disinformation, but to follow only official news.

The Ministry of Defence will release an additional report regarding the situation.


As a result of the Azerbaijani provocation, the Armenian side has 4 killed in action and 6 wounded. The Azerbaijani side has many killed and wounded.
As of 08:30p.m., the situation on the frontline is relatively stable.
In case of any changes, the Ministry of Defence will issue a statement.


As a result of Azerbaijani provocation on April 11, the servicemen killed in action devotedly defending the sovereign territory of Republic of Armenia are:

Mkrtich Armen Harutyunyan (1989)
Henrik Vachagan Kocharyan (1997)
Narek Gagik Sargsyan (1994)
