Potential ID on Brussels Gunman, Video Pledging Allegiance to ISIS Posted to Facebook

Date:

We have found a potential ID on the gunman involved in the fatal shooting of at least two people in central Brussels tonight.

Initial reports indicated that a man dressed in an orange jacket opened fire on people near Pl. Sainctelette. According to local media, the suspect was heard yelling “Allahu Akbar” before he fled the scene. The suspect remains at large.

On Facebook, a man by the name Slayem Slouma, wearing an orange jacket similar to the suspect, posted a video where he pledges allegiance to the Islamic State and said that he will “avenge Muslims” and “die for his religion.”

Having looked at other recent posts on the account, one references the recent murder of 6 year old Palestinian-American Wadea Al Fayoume, who was fatally stabbed by his mother’s landlord in Illinois in what federal investigators are classifying as a hate crime. Al Fayoume’s mother was seriously wounded in the attack as well, but survived. According to the Will County Sheriff’s, the suspect, identified as 71 year old Joseph M. Czuba, was motivated by the family “being Muslim and the ongoing Middle Eastern conflict involving Hamas and the Israelis.”
