The claim of 400,000 people with infectious diseases is of particular note. Many experts believe that deaths within Gaza by disease and starvation will soon overtake those wrought by direct Israeli military action, if they have not already.

The last week has seen a rise of 1,000 fatalities (fatalities crossed 22,000 on January 2nd, and now sits at 23,210), and a rise of 4,000 injured (on January 2nd it was reported that 55,000 were wounded, with the total now sitting at 59,167).
