At Least 60 Killed, Cable Bridge Collapse, Morbi, India

At approximately 0950 EST, a cable bridge spanning the Macchu River in Morbi, Gujarat, India collapsed. Hundreds of pedestrians were on the bridge when it fell, with many of them being throw into the water.

Emergency services are struggling to transport the victims and pull them from the water. Prime Minister Modi and Chief Gujarat Minister Bhupendra have ordered a statewide mobilization of laborers to assist the emergency crews as well as to call other crews from surrounding areas. Prime Minister Modi has also announced a  INR 200,000 fund for next of kin of victims.
