IRGC Confirms Death of Officer in March 25th Israeli Airstrike in Syria

Last night, this publication reported that a U.S. airstrike had targeted IRGC members and affiliates on the Iraq-Syrian border near Deir Ezzor, Syria. Local media claims that U.S. aircraft conducted the strike were refuted by major publications such as Al Jazeera which reported that Israeli aircraft had conducted the strike.

The first confirmation from the Islamic Republic of Iran have come in. Initially, the death of IRGC-affiliate commander of the al-Bukamal region, Hajj Asker (Nom de Guerre), was reported by local media. However, IRNA has reported the death of IRGC officer “Behrooz Vahedi of the Basij Revolutionary Guard Corps of Qods Force and Basij Shahid Sadough” in the strike. The reported photo of Vehedi is shown below:

Israeli media has reported the strike was carried out in an attempt to halt Iranian arms shipments into Syria.
