At approximately 0856 EST, initial reports indicated that a Kenyan military helicopter had crashed in Cheptulel, West Pokot, Kenya. The helicopter was reportedly carrying Kenyan Chief of Defense Forces Ogolla when it crashed according to local media, however this has not been confirmed as of this publication. The Kenyan State House is preparing an official press conference.

Six of nine of the onboard passengers have been reported killed and at least one person has been airlifted to Nairobi.

The Chief of Defense Forces (CDF) is the highest-ranking military officer in the Kenya Defense Forces and the principal military adviser to the President of Kenya and the National Security Council. General Ogolla has been the CDF since April 28th, 2023.
