Aircraft from Columbus Air Base, MS Crashes

An aircraft from the Columbus Air Force Base has crashed in Southern Lowndes County. Local media has reported that the pilot “survived and walked away from the crash”.

Columbus Air Force Base, Mississippi is home of the 14th Flying Training Wing of the Air Education and Training Command. Columbus AFB is located five miles north of the city of Columbus in Lowndes County, Northeast Mississippi, ten miles west of the Alabama state border.

The training squadrons there fly the T-6 Texan II, T-38C Talon and T-1A Jayhawk aircraft.
