Russian Luch Korsar UAV Captured in Ukraine

A Group III Luch Korsar Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) was downed at an unknown location in Ukraine recently. The following images show catastrophic structural damage to the drone which seems to have been downed through electronic warfare due to no blast damage on the fuselage.

From the photos one can see the primary payload, the Electro-optical/ Infrared (EO/IR) camera “ball”. In 2019, the UAV was armed with an electronic warfare suite that does not appear to be on this specific airframe. The Korsar has a maximum speed of 81kts, maximum range of 130nm, and a maximum ceiling of 6,600ft.

The Luch Korsar is a medium-weight Russian unmanned aerial vehicle developed by OKB Luch, member of Ruselectronics owned by Rostec, to perform reconnaissance, strike and electronic attack missions on behalf of the Russian Ground Forces and Navy. The program started in 2009 and at least 3 prototypes have been built as of 2019. It is considered as an improved analogue of the US-made RQ-7 Shadow UAV. (Wiki)
