Norwegian F-35s Intercept Russian Fighters

At approximately 1045 Norway local, two Norwegian F-35s scrambled and intercepted two Russian fighters in international airspace. The F-35s are part of the Norwegian Quick Reaction Alert mission out of Evenes airbase. This intercept was interesting in that the usual  High North intercepts are of Russian Long Range Aviation assets, not lone tactical aircraft.

A Russian Su-24 FENCER and MiG-31 FOXHOUND were intercepted and escorted through international airspace for an unspecified amount of time.

The Russian Ministry of Defense have not commented on this interaction.
