Iranian-French National Arrested in Iran

According to the Human Rights Organization Hengwa, Amin Heydari, an Iranian-French citizen, was arrested by the Iranian government six months ago after returning from a business trip abroad. He has been accused of “financing opposition groups abroad.” According to Hengwa:

“Amin Heydari, an Iranian-French citizenwho is still in the custody of government forces, was arrested by government forces six months ago while returning from a foreign trip at Bandar Abbas International Airport. According to the available information, he is an international businessman and has traveled a lot to different countries, including Iran.”

After returning home, Heydari was arrested at the airport where his phone was taken, his home was ransacked, and he was promptly interrogated. After the interrogation, he was transported to Lakan Prison in Rasht where he has not had access to a lawyer and has no trial date.

According to Hengwa:

“According to an informed source, Amin Heydari has been accused by security institutions of “participating in protest gatherings of opponents of the government abroad” and “financially supporting the opposition abroad” as well as “acting against national security” after initial interrogations.

Before his arrest, Mr. Amin Heydari was involved in international trade in Zain, China and France, and he also held a position as a member of the board of directors of Zaytoun Commercial Complex in Bandar Abbas, Iran.”
