Images Reportedly Show Russian Sub Damage

As this publication reported on September 13th, the Russian Navy vessels Minsk and Rostov-on-Don were damaged in a Ukrainian missile attack. Both ships have been reported as heavily damaged. However, until now, we have not had photographic evidence of the damage to the Kilo-class Rostov-on-Don. The below images purport to show at least two impact craters on the sub’s hull, raising serious doubts over Russian claims that the vessel will be repaired and returned to operations.

These images have not been independently verified as of this publication. However, since most of the imagery of the Rostov-on-Don was obscured by poor NIIRS values of commercial satellite shots, these images serve as the only battle damage assessment for the submarine.
