On May 10th, the Junta mobilized a significant number of government forces for deployment to the Northeastern Command, based in the city of Lashio in northern Shan State. The Junta also issued several directives to the command to prepare for “potential imminent war.”

The mobilization and issuance of directives came after the Shan State Progressive Party declared war against the Junta, stating that negotiations with the government were not effective or viable.
