Tehrik-e Taliban Ends Ceasefire, Orders Commanders to Attack Pakistani Military

At approximately 0800 EST, the Tehrik-e Taliban (TTP) Minister of Defense, Mufti Muzahim ended the ceasefire between his group and the Pakistani government that has been holding tenuously since June, 2022. In the instruction to his regional commanders, he accused the Pakistani government of not honoring the ceasefire, in particular the recent operation in Lakki Marwatt, of which TTP fighters retaliated by killing eight police officers in November 17th.

The orders to the regional commanders reads below:

Now it seems that the TTP will once again carry out region wide attacks against security forces, much like when the last ceasefire in December, 2021 expired which resulted in Pakistani airstrikes into Afghanistan.

Tehrik-e Taliban Pakistan (TTP), commonly known as the Pakistani Taliban is an umbrella organization of various Islamist armed militant groups operating along the Afghan–Pakistani border. Formed in 2007 by Baitullah Mehsud, its current leader is Noor Wali Mehsud, who has publicly pledged allegiance to the Afghan Taliban (Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan). The Pakistani Taliban share a common ideology with the Afghan Taliban and have assisted them in the 2001–2021 war, but the two groups have separate operation and command structures.
