The Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has released a report detailing the militant group’s attacks against Pakistan for the month of March. The TTP claimed that it carried out 42 attacks, resulting in the deaths of 58 Pakistani security force members and wounding an additional 72. The vast majority of attacks were carried out across the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) province, which has long been a hotbed for TTP activity.

 

March 1

  • (Claimed) Attack against paramilitary forces of the Frontier Corps in Bara Tehsil, KP, resulting in three deaths.
  • Authorities in Bara Tehsil reported that TTP militants launched an attack against the house of a local police officer, killing him and his mother.

 

March 2

  • (Claimed) Attack against a Pakistani military post in Dera Ismail Khan, KP. Casualties were claimed, but an exact number was not given.

 

March 5

  • (Claimed) Attack against a Pakistani military post in Mir Ali Tehsil, KP, claiming “many” casualties.
  • (Claimed) Attack against a police checkpoint in Dera Ismail Khan, claiming “three policemen were killed and injured.”
  • (Claimed) Attack against FC paramilitary forces in Bara Tehsil, KP, resulting in an unspecified number of casualties.
  • (Claimed) IED attack against a Pakistani military truck in Bara Tehsil, KP, claiming an unspecified amount on board were killed. Officials say two soldiers were killed in the attack.

 

March 8

  • (Claimed) Attack against a Pakistani police vehicle in Daraban Tehsil, KP, claiming two officers were killed and their weapons were seized.
  • (Claimed) Attack against a security checkpoint in Washuk, Balochistan, claiming three federal paramilitary troops were killed and an unspecified number of others were wounded.
  • Pakistani officials reported that a police officer was killed and four others were wounded following a TTP attack against a census team  in Dera Ismail Khan, KP.

 

March 11

  • (Claimed) IED attack against a Pakistani mine clearing vehicle in Spinwam Tehsil, KP, claiming all on board were either killed or wounded. 

 

March 12

  • (Claimed) Attack against a Pakistani military convoy in Dosli Tehsi, KP, claiming two soldiers were killed and two were injured.
  • (Claimed) Attack against a Pakistani military post in Dera Ismail Khan, KP, claiming one soldier was killed.
  • (Claimed) Attack against the Khajuri Fort in Mir Ali Tehsil, KP. Casualties were not specified.
  • (Claimed) Assassination of a Pakistani police officer in Koti Tehsil, Balochistan.

 

March 14

  • (Claimed) Attack against an FC paramilitary vehicle in Gomal Tehsil, KP, claiming seven killed.
  • (Claimed) Attack against a Counter Terrorism Department and military intelligence targets in  Dera Ismail Khan, KP, claiming two were killed.

 

March 15

  • (Claimed) Attack against a Pakistani military post in ??Kalachi Tehsil, KP, claiming an unspecified number killed.
  • (Claimed) Attacks against Pakistani military positions in Sangu and Bara Tehsil, KP. They did not specifically claim any casualties.
  • (Claimed) Missile attack against Pakistani military targets in Jandola Tehsil, KP, claiming that there was a “high possibility” of casualties.
  • (Claimed) Attack against Pakistani police in Peshawar, KP, claiming two officers were wounded.

 

March 16

  • (Claimed) Sniper attack in Mardan, KP, claiming one police official was wounded.
  • (Claimed) Attack against Pakistani police in  Quetta, Balochistan, claiming two officers were wounded.
  • (Claimed) Attack against Pakistani forces carrying out a counter terrorism operation in Kalachi Tehsi, KP, claiming a vehicle was destroyed.

 

March 17

  • (Claimed) Grenade attack against Pakistani police in Kohat, KP, claiming that an IED detonation targeting responding officers resulted in numerous casualties.

 

March 20

  • (Claimed) Attack against a Pakistani police checkpoint in Bara Tehsil, KP, claiming several officers were killed.
  • (Claimed) Sniper assassination of a Pakistani military officer in Bannu, KP.

 

March 21

  • (Claimed) Attack against a Pakistani police station in Dera Ismail Khan, KP, claiming seven officers were killed and two others were wounded. The group also claimed that nine Pakistani soldiers were killed in later clashes in the area.

 

March 22

  • (Claimed) Assassination of Pakistani military intelligence officer in Mirian Tehsil, KP.
  • (Claimed) Ambush on Pakistani military forces in Mir Ali Tehsil, KP, claiming one soldier was killed.
  • (Claimed) Attack against an FC outpost in Bara Tehsil, KP, claiming three paramilitaries were killed.

 

March 30

  • (Claimed) Attacks against Pakistani military targets in Sararogha Tehsil, KP, claiming two soldiers were killed.
  • (Claimed) IED Attack against Pakistani military patrol in Gudiyum Tehsil, KP, claiming two soldiers were killed and two were wounded.
  • (Claimed) Attack against a police station in Lakki Marwat, KP, killing four officers, including Deputy Superintendent of Police Iqbal Momand. Several other officers were wounded in the attack.

Note: I was only tracking 32 attacks via official claims put out by the TTP. Their monthly round up put the number at 42, so there may be some that I missed and there may be some that were not claimed until now.
