At approximately 2015 EST, reports began to emerge of an active shooter incident at Motherlode Saloon in Red River, New Mexico. Police confirmed by 2036 EST that the scene was active.

Eyewitnesses claimed that bystanders tackled the shooter and overwhelmed him before targeting more victims. At least four have been killed and seven were injured and transported to Holy Cross Medical Center in Taos, New Mexico. A lockdown at Holy Cross was also enacted at 2100 by hospital staff.
