At approximately 0500 EST, initial reports indicated that a large traffic incident resulted in multiple casualties. Initial reports said that a woman was killed and six were injured after a truck struck a group of pedestrians in Passau Germany.

Passau Police made this statement, showing that the mother of two children died on scene and the 11-year old daughter died in the hospital from her injuries:
”As the initial investigation revealed, the truck driver wanted to drive past a stopped vehicle, hitting passers-by on the sidewalk opposite. Why the truck left the road and ultimately came to a stop against the wall is the subject of ongoing investigations. These are being conducted intensively together with the Passau public prosecutor’s office, which was also on site.
The police measures and those of the appointed expert on site have now been completed. The truck was towed away and seized for further evidence collection. The traffic closures were lifted around 2:20 p.m. and Bahnhofstrasse was opened.
As a result of the accident, a 37-year-old woman was fatally injured. As the investigation has now confirmed, the 37-year-old’s two children, aged 9 and 11, were also caught in the accident. The 11-year-old daughter died of her injuries in the hospital. The 9-year-old son is still being treated.
The other injured people include the 63-year-old truck driver, who was able to leave the hospital after receiving medical treatment. He is in police custody. Two women aged 70 and 45 were also injured, with the 70-year-old being seriously injured and being treated in hospital.”
This is not being investigated as an act of terror.
