Lawsuit Filed Over Killing of Palestinian Journalist, Shireen Abu Akleh

Date:

Al Jazeera has announced the filing of a lawsuit against Israeli forces over the killing of Shireen Abu Akleh.

In May, Shireen was killed by a bullet from Israeli forces while she was covering a raid in the West Bank.

This all comes after an investigation by Al Jazeera’s legal team.

Shireen Abu Akleh

Shireen had worked as a journalist for 25 years and became a prominent voice in the world of Arab news. Her death has sparked accusations that she was intentionally targeted and that her killing was not accidental as claimed by the Israeli forces.

Last month, the U.S. Department of Justice opened its own investigation into Shireen’s killing. This didn’t sit too well with the Israeli government which has refused to cooperate with the investigation.
