16 Members of Congress Arrested For Blocking Traffic

Date:

Members of congress Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., and Alma Adams, D-N.C., among others, were apprehended by Capitol Police during an abortion rights demonstration on Tuesday afternoon outside the Supreme Court building.

In light of the SCOTUS decision, dozens of protestors (including 16 US House Reps) made the decision to block traffic. These protests ended in 34 arrests, per U.S. capitol police. The rhetoric surrounding this decision has continued to amplify since the leaked draft of the decision to overturn Roe V. Wade. Viewpoints aside, politicians are now utilizing this decision as an opportunity to enhance their platform to their core constituents.

The effect these messages will have on the bases of either party will become known with this coming election in November.
