Russia Test Fires “Satan II” ICBM

Date:

Russia has carried out another test firing of its RS-28 Sarmat heavy ICBM, which is also known as the “Satan II,” in which Russian President Vladimir Putin said it should be a “food for thought for those who try to threaten Russia.”

The Russian Ministry of Defense Reported that “Today at 15:12 Moscow time, Sarmat, land-based intercontinental ballistic missile, was successfully launched from a silo at the Plesetsk state testing cosmodrome in Arkhangelsk Region.”

The Satan II is claimed to have an operational range of over 10,000 miles with a customizable payload, which can consist of at least 10 nuclear-capable multiple independently targetable reentry vehicles (MIRVs), hypersonic glide vehicles, or two dozen smaller warheads, allowing the weapon to target an area the size of France.

While talking about the latest launch, Putin stated “The new complex has the highest tactical and technical characteristics and is capable of overcoming all modern means of anti-missile defense. It has no analogues in the world and won’t have for a long time to come. This truly unique weapon will strengthen the combat potential of our armed forces, reliably ensure Russia’s security from external threats and provide food for thought for those who, in the heat of frenzied aggressive rhetoric, try to threaten our country.”
