Military Enlistment Now Mandatory In Ukraine

Date:

Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky has ordered compulsory enlistment and the general mobilization of Ukraine’s forces to counter a continued Russian invasion. Men aged 18 to 60 have also been barred from leaving the country.

President Zelensky addressed Ukraine shortly after the enlistment directive, stating that Russian saboteurs have entered the capital of Kyiv and that he has been given information that they will target him and his family. He added that Russia “wants to destroy Ukraine politically by destroying the head of state.” He further addressed rumors that he fled the country, stating “I am in Kyiv, I stay with my people.” Zelensky has made several public efforts to enlist all personnel possible to combat Russian domestic and auxiliary forces. The Ukrainian President has also made visits to troops on the ground as preparations continue for countering the forces they stand against.
