Large Cocaine Seizure in the Netherlands

Large Cocaine Seizure in the Netherlands

Date:

Six men were arrested on Monday in Bleiswijk in the South of Holland for trafficking 7,700 kilos of cocaine. The cocaine was found in the port of Antwerp hidden amongst a crate of bananas, a common cocaine smuggling technique from South America. The cocaine was then followed by authorities into the Netherlands where the arrests and the seizure were conducted. The arrests were made by Task Force Cocaine Flows Fortius, an international collaboration between Belgium and the Netherlands who both face large amounts of cocaine imported into the country.

The port of Antwerp seized a record 110 tons of cocaine in 2022 and has become a key point of entry for cocaine traffickers to enter Europe, the world’s largest cocaine market.
