At approximately 0700 EST, the Russian Interior Ministry placed U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham on its wanted list. The official statement from Russian state-owned media reads below:
”The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia put US Senator Lindsey Graham on the wanted list, against whom the chairman of the Investigative Committee (IC) of the Russian Federation Alexander Bastrykin instructed to open a criminal case on the fact of Russophobic statements.”
Graham, during a conversation with Ukrainian President Zelensky had praised the Ukrainian war effort and commented that the death of Russian troops in Ukraine was a good investment for the United States.
Russian Presidential Spokesperson Peskov told press that “it is difficult to think of something more shameful”. While former-Russian President Medvedev alluded to assassinating Graham. He said “dirty money is used to assassinated Senators too”. Russian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Zakharova invited Graham to Russia to explain his comments.
Senator Graham responded today that the Russian government should “come and make your best case” and he would “see them in The Hague”, a swipe at President Putin who has been issued an arrest warrant from the International Criminal Court for the abduction of Ukrainian children.
He also said:
“To know that my commitment to Ukraine has drawn the ire of Putin’s regime brings me immense joy,” Graham said. “I will continue to stand with and for Ukraine’s freedom until every Russian soldier is expelled from Ukrainian territory.”
