More Classified Documents Found at Biden Residence

The White House has announced a second set of classified documents has been discovered from President Biden's time as Vice President.

Date:

Just days after it was announced that classified documents were found in President Biden’s D.C. office space in November, another set has been discovered in a storage area in the garage of his home in Wilmington, Delaware.

A statement released by an attorney to President Biden, Richard Sauber, said, “during the review, the lawyers discovered among personal and political papers a small number of additional Obama-Biden Administration records with classified markings.” He continued, “all but one of these documents were found in storage space in the President’s Wilmington residence garage. One document consisting of one page was discovered among stored materials in an adjacent room.”

On November 2nd of 2022, Biden’s aides found classified documents while cleaning out the office of his personal think-tank known as the Penn Biden Center in Washington, D.C. Biden’s team then immediately notified the National Archives, according to Sauber, and is said to be fully cooperating with Department of Justice. The team has also set to looking for additional documents, which is how they came to finding the second set in the Biden home. President Biden said he did not know what was contained in the documents found at the Penn Biden Center. It is also unclear what the documents classification levels were, what they contained, or how many there were exactly.

When addressing questions Thursday morning, President Biden said in regard to the documents, “as part of that process, my lawyers reviewed other places where documents from my time as vice president were stored, and they finished the review last night. They discovered a small number of documents with classified markings in storage areas and file cabinets in my home and my personal library.”

“People know I take classified documents and classified material seriously,” Biden said.

Also announced today is the decision by Attorney General Merrick Garland to appoint Robert K. Hur to investigate as to how classified documents from President Biden’s time as the Vice President came to be found in his private office and home. Mr. Hur is responsible for investigating “the possible unauthorized removal and retention of classified documents or other records discovered”, according to the order from the Attorney General’s office.
